Wednesday 17th July – The McLintock Cup

Always a popular competition, the ‘McLintock’ 2024 edition, drew a good field of 38 players on a fine day for golf. With the course in peak condition for the big weekend, scoring was good with the top ten players scoring within three shots of par; no mean feat on fast tricky greens. The Auld trooper scored better than all however, returning a gross one over par to win on a net 59, by three shots from Brian Murray.

Sunday 14th July – The Raymond Curtis Salver

A fine morning’s weather for Glasgow Fair Sunday attracted 25 players to the Raymond Curtis Salver. Recovering well from some wayward tee shots in the early part of his round, Neillie McKechnie returned a level 4s round to score a net 62 and pip Gordon MacLachlan on a countback.

Sunday 7th July – The Whiting Bay Improvements Trophy (Ladies)

5 played in the ladies version of the “Improvements”, although in a perhaps long overdue innovation, those that wanted to entered the draw and played alongside the gents. Charlie Taylor, the highlight of whose round was a 2 at the 5th hole after driving the green, won by 4 points from her nearest challenger.
