Sunday 3^rd October – The Hamilton Salver

15 played and enjoyed a fine morning’s golf with weather that never quite matched the forecasters’ dire predictions. Scoring was on the whole reasonable but Neil ‘Sonic’ Lucas left the field in his wake with a net 58 to win by 7 shots from his nearest rival. A Supersonic performance.

Wednesday 29^th September – Yellow Tees Stableford

12 played in a gentle Stableford from the yellow tees on the last golfing day of the summer season. Jamie Macpherson continued where he left off on Sunday and stormed home with a fine 40 points in a round containing 11 3s and only one 5.

Stan Rainey and Gus MacLeod scored the only 2s of the day at the 2nd and 15th respectively.

Sunday 26^th September – Medal

14 played and the scoring suggests none found it easy. A brisk wind and recently tined greens made for tricky conditions to the extent that the best net score was a 4 over par 67 from Jamie Macpherson. Jamie also recorded the only 2 of the day at the 17^th.

Sunday 19^th September – The Taylor Trophy Greensome

Another competition we were unable to play last year, the “Taylor” dates from 1890 although played for at Whiting Bay only since 1976 when it was donated to the club by the family of its first winner, Dugald McKelvie. Fitting then that on its re-introduction, one of our oldest trophies was won by  the oldest pairing in the field with John Pennycott and David Brookens pipping Stuart McGregor and Gus MacLeod on a last nine countback.
