Saturday 5th December – ALGU Drumadoon

20 Arran ladies played in the Drumadoon at Whiting Bay and enjoyed a beautiful winters day overhead conditions ideal for golf. Scoring was difficult however and CSS went out to 65. Local knowledge was clearly no disadvantage and three of the top six placings went to Whiting Bay members. Lynda Blair topped the list to win by 2 shots from Mary Jo Tod of Brodick.

4th Doreen Mainds, WBGC  (11) – 68

Ann May of Brodick GC scored the lowest gross of 76 strokes.

Sunday 6^th December – AGA Winter League Rd 2

Sunday 6^th December saw us host the second round of this season’s event and happily we had no weather issues to contend with other than a hard frost and bitter cold. That improved as the morning progressed and most of the golf was played in fine winter sunshine. The WBGC team prevailed over Machrie by 1&1/2 to 1/2 with John Pennycott & Dougie Auld winning against Campbell Laing and Brian Sherwood while Stan Rainey and David Blair halved their game with David Jeffery and A. Morrison-Cowan. In the other ties Brodick beat Corrie while Lamlash and Shiskine halved their match.

The January round is played at Corrie on Sunday 10th January when we play Shiskine GC.

Sunday 29th November – Yellow Tees Stableford

15 played and scoring was undoubtedly helped by the calm conditions. A level par 36 points was good enough only for 7th place! That said Graeme Crichton produced some spectacular golf, eleven 4s and seven 3s, three of them birdies, to win on 45 points.

Andy Martin and David Blair bagged the only 2s of the day at the 4th and the 14th respectively.

Sunday 22^nd November – Yellow Tees Sweep

11 played and after some initial confusion about the format returned some very reasonable scores especially considering the recent handicap system revision which has reduced most playing handicaps. Dougie Auld carded a fine 61 off his new reduced handicap to win by 2 from Gavin Mainds.

Jamie Macpherson returned the best gross score of 70. David Morrison bagged the only 2s of the day at the 4th and 17th

This being a non  encounter there was no CSS.

Sunday 8^th November  – Winter Cup Rd 2

11 souls braved the rain and this being the first competition under the new ‘world handicap system’ there was no CSS.

1st David Morrison (13) – 57 and lowest scratch

2nd Dave Hackett (14) – 61

3rd Gus MacLeod (13) 65

4th John Pennycott (12) – 69

Nicol Auld and David Morrison bagged the only 2s of the day at the 3rd and 17th respectively.
