Wednesday 3rd August – The McNicol Cup
33 played in this year’s “McNicol”, one of our oldest trophies dating from 1913. Those playing in the morning endured a miserable time of it with persistent rain and little wind to move it along. The afternoon and evening players fared better, although the wind did strengthen as the hours passed and a couple of pin positions were challenging to say the least. Most of the contending scores came from the later starters and David Brookens being one of them prevailed by one shot from Crawford Paterson.
1st David Brookens (14) – 59
2nd Crawford Paterson (17) – 60
3rd Dave Hackett (15) – 62
4th Gus MacLeod (14) – 63
Nicol Auld returned the lowest gross score on 68. Interestingly the only 2s returned were all scored on the par 4 14th by Kerr Drummond, Markus Kroner and Tom Paterson.
