Jim Hainey – WBGC Captain 2009 to 2011

Jim Hainey captained the cub from 2009 to 2011 and we are sorry to hear today of his passing on 24th October. He steered the club through difficult times following the financial crash of 2008 and it is in no small measure due to his hard work and commitment that the club pulled through and prospered. Additionally, Jim was engaging company both on and off the course and a good friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts at this sad time are with his family.

2019-2020 AGA Winter League

The winter league gets under way on Sunday 3rd November with our first game being against Shiskine GC at Brodick. It’s a tough draw for us this season with a match against Lamlash at Lamlash in January but then we host the final round in March when our opponents are Corrie GC. The fixture list is shown below and the team sheet is on the clubhouse notice board. If you wish to play please make sure you put your name up along with a telephone number at which you can be reached. Alternatively e mail the club – info@whitingbaygolf.com – and we’ll add your name and number for you.

Wednesday 2nd October – The Tam Young Tankard

We’ll be starting our winter sweeps this Wednesday with the first round of this season’s “Tam Young”. The format is as before with winter handicaps applying throughout the  season. On Fridays we’ll have the usual “Srixon Ball Sweep”, again using winter handicaps, but no adjustments will be made on Fridays.
