Sunday 17th March – Lamlash Friendly
For St Patricks day we made the short journey to Lamlash for the last of our winter series of friendly matches. The game ended in a 2-2 draw meaning that over the season, Whiting Bay ran out winners by 8-3. The course was in excellent condition, especially considering the recent rainfall and thanks to Lamlash for their hospitality. Duncan’s soup and sandwiches were first class and very welcome. Now on to a hot and dry golfing summer!

A bitterly cold morning with intermittent showers proved a stern test for the seven hardy souls that contested the final round of this season’s Winter Cup. Jamie Macpherson returned a fine gross 70 to win by seven strokes from his nearest challenger. Tellingly, there were no twos returned.
1st Jamie Macpherson (5) – 65 and lowest gross

Jamie’s score resulted in him returning a fine two under par for his best three rounds. Dougie Auld takes second place with a three round score of six over par.
Congratulations to Jamie on retaining the Winter Cup for 2023 – 2024.
