Sunday 20th November – Lamlash Friendly

An unexpectedly fine morning drew a decent number of golfers from each club for the first of our winter series of matches against our friends from Lamlash. After the recent wet weather the course was playing its full length and anyone scoring close to their playing handicap could be proud of their performance. Home players took the top two places in the individual Stableford withDougie Macfarlane’s 37 points pipping Andy Campbell to win by 1 point. In the match itself Whiting Bay prevailed to win by 3 – 2 in a closely fought encounter.
Thanks to Lamlash for their hospitality. We look forward to welcoming them to Whiting Bay in the next fixture.

Sunday 13th November – The Winter Cup

14 played on a spring like morning and most took advantage to post scores that under the old system would have undoubtedly resulted in a reduction in the competition standard scratch. Neil ‘Sonic’ Lucas topped an impressive list however with a very impressive 59.
