12 played in this years ‘Bogey’, a popular competition in which the format is matchplay against the course. Usually the course comes out on top but this year the golfers took revenge. Jamie Macpherson, Gus MacLeod and Neil Lucas all won against the course but John Pennycott put it back in the box with an astonishing display of golf which would have returned a gross 68 in medal play format. His only gross 5 came on the 18th green; all other holes were 4s and 3s and a 2.

The club is sad to announce the recent passing of Mike Buchan, one of our long standing mainland members. A past captain of Williamwood Golf Club, Mike was a well known face around Whiting Bay on his regular visits to his home in the village and always engaging company on the golf course and in the clubhouse. He will be much missed and our condolences go to Jean and the family at this sad time.

The greens having been recently cored we played a non counting Stableford and 10 played. Safe to say some coped with the putting surfaces better than others and they certainly did nothing to hinder the top scorers with Gus Macleod and John Pennycott both returning 41 points. Gus prevailed on a back nine countback. No 2s were recorded.
