6 ladies played in the first competition of the season. The weather was reasonably kind and all managed round before the weather changed.

Sunday 4th April – The Roy Ure Tankard
23 played in the Roy Ure Tankard, our popular Stableford season starter. Conditions were fine but the wintery conditions forecast for later in the day started to make their presence felt as a cool wind got progressively stronger as the morning progressed. Perhaps reflecting the long winter absence, scoring was steady rather than spectacular but 19 cards returned scores of 30 points or more and four players tied on 36 points. Congratulations though to Dave Hackett, winner of the prestigious Roy Ure Tankard for 2021 by the narrowest of margins – a countback on the last three holes of the front nine!

There were five 2s recorded; Jamie MacPherson and Jamie Stewart at the 2nd, Graeme Crichton at the 4th, David Brookens at the 13th and Jamie Stewart at the 17th.

Due to the current restrictions and the difficulties in organising teams and a draw, the Poole Mixed Fours and the Tor Alvey Greensome have been put back to dates in early June.
Sunday 14th March – Winter Cup Rd 6
10 played on a terrible morning for golf with frequent heavy showers and a biting wind. 3 managed to return completed cards leaving Neil ’Sonic’ Lucas the winner on 66, a fine score considering the conditions

The final round of the season means that congratulations go to Dave Hackett who wins the prestigious Winter Cup on a tally of 190, John Pennycott is runner up on 196.
