January 2021 – Lockdown Measures & Midweek Sweeps
Golfers will no doubt be aware that with effect from Tuesday 5th January, the country has been placed into further ‘lockdown’ measures. Fortunately the measures announced mean that golf can continue, PROVIDED all social distancing protocols etc. are strictly adhered to. This will mean that three and four ball games may be played only when all participants are from the same household. For the vast majority of us that means only two ball games are allowed and of course the pre existing prohibition on using the clubhouse continues.
It has therefore been decided to suspend the Wednesday and Friday sweeps (the Tam Young Tankard and the Srixon ball sweep) until such time as conditions are eased, hopefully in the not too distant future.
Golf can still be played and bookings should be made via the online system whenever possible, but remember, only two ball games unless all players are from the same household.
Sunday 3rd January – Flog!
Sunday 3rd January – How to Play Flog!
On Sunday 3rd January, we’re playing the course backwards. We’ll start at the first (yellow) tee and play to the 17th green. Then from the 18th (white) tee to the 16th green. Thereafter, playing from the yellow tees, we play from the 17th tee to the 15th green, from the 16th tee to the 14th green, the 15th tee to the 13th green and so on until we arrive back at the 18th green from the 2nd tee.
Scoring is handicap strokeplay and it’s a fun mornings flog. No draw for partners so just make up your own games, preferably using the online system (for track and trace purposes)
Unfortunately we can’t meet up in the clubhouse afterwards so we’ll work out winners etc after the event.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF FLOG, AND FOR SAFETY REASONS, THE COURSE IS CLOSED FOR ORTHODOX PLAY UNTIL 2 pm.
Amended Festive Fixtures
Amended Festive Fixtures
Please note the following amendment to the fixture list for the festive season. Due to the re-introduction of a travel ban the Cross Country will not be played. Hopefully we will be able to reintroduce it later in the year, probably over a bank holiday weekend, when more of our regular friends and visitors will be able to join us.
