21 played in this popular holiday season Stableford and it was nice to see so many old friends back on the course following the easing of the lockdown. The blustery wind and having the pins moved back to more challenging positions restored some of the course’s defences and scoring was such that CSS went out to 64/35 Stableford points.

1st Brian  Murray (9) – 36 points

2nd Neil Lucas (12) – 35 acb

3rd Jamie Macpherson (5) – 35 acb

4th Dave Hackett (14) – 35

Scott Adair and Neil McKechnie bagged 2s at the 2nd and 7th respectively but creditable as those were they were roundly trumped by Ronnie Mann’s 2 at the 8th.

18 played in damp conditions but, thankfully, no persistent rain. Scoring was not quite as spectacular as recent outings and CSS stayed at 63/36 Stableford points. The top of the leaderboard bore a striking resemblance last Sunday’s with Jamie Macpherson winning, again, by one shot this time from David Brookens, John Pennycott and Kevin Jackson.

Jamie bagged a 2 at the 2nd while Graeme Crichton did likewise at the 15th.

Not what we usually do on the middle weekend of the Glasgow Fair but in place of the WBGC Gents Open we’re holding two of our most revered club competitions. On Saturday 25th July we’ll play the Ballantyne Cup, a medal play trophy dating from 1909 and on Sunday 26th July we’ll play the Eric Wood Stablefords, both ladies and gents.

On each day there will be sponsors prizes at many of the holes. For safety reasons we cannot hold an evening prizegiving so prizes will be available for uplift from the clubhouse from Monday 27th onwards.

Weather permitting and subject to the current social distancing etc. guidelines, there will be food and drink available at the clubhouse and we’ll have burgers on the barbie just to remind us of the usual ‘Open’ weekend. Hopefully we’ll be lucky with the weather and we’ll see a good turnout of golfers on each day.

Unfortunately we are unable to run a cash sweep and to help with club funds, much depleted this year for obvious reasons, we are asking each member who plays to contribute £5.00 on each day played.

18 played and continuing the recent trend of fine scoring CSS came down to 62.

2nd Neil Lucas (12) – 59

3rd David Brookens (13) – 60

4th Wolfi Kroner (13) – 63

Sandy Pringle scored the only 2 of the day at the 4th.

Summer Fixtures

The suspension of competitive golf during the Coronavirus pandemic effectively rendered the annual fixture list for 2020 obsolete. It is left accessible on the website for information but members should check the notice board, the website, the club’s Facebook page regularly for updated fixtures. We intend playing as many of the ‘lost’ cups and trophies later in the season if practicable.  Meanwhile here is the updated fixture list for July and August. Check regularly though as even this will be subject to alteration as circumstances demand.
