Sunday 1^st March – v Corrie GC at Whiting Bay

Whiting Bay rounded off its winter league campaign with a comprehensive 4 – 0 victory over a depleted Corrie team leaving Whiting Bay in 4^th place after 3 defeats and 2 wins. With the recent weather it was quite an achievement to get any golf played at all and many thanks are due to Stewart and Corey for ensuring the course was fit for play. That said conditions were far from pleasant and all who participated are to be congratulated on their endurance. Congratulations too to Lamlash GC on retaining the trophy with an undefeated record of 3 wins and 1 drawn match.

Sunday 23^rd February – Yellow Tees Stableford

6 played and were glad to reach the warmth and safety of the clubhouse just as the snow flurries started again. Despite the cold wind and treacherous underfoot conditions Stan Rainey managed a run of four threes in the front nine to set up a winning score of 37 Stableford points.

Sunday 16^th February – Winter Cup Rd 5

8 played in the rearranged 5th round of the Winter Cup in very windy but, thankfully, dry conditions.

3^rd Stan Rainey (10) – 67 acb

There were no magic 2s and, rather surprisingly, there were no ‘no returns’.

Saturday 8^th February v Brodick at Corrie GC

This rearranged tie, played in the shortened format of 4 man teams, resulted in a defeat for Whiting Bay by 1&1/2 to 1/2 at the hands of Brodick.

The final round will be played at Whiting Bay on Sunday 1^st March when we play Corrie GC. Here’s hoping for a decent morning for it.
