The Blairs Clean up at the WOBOT sweep

For the second annual WOBOT sweep, 9 travelled to Shiskine only to find a hard overnight frost had delayed the opening of the course. This posed no problem though and allowed us the luxury of a leisurely cup of coffee and some impulse buying in Dougie’s pro shop. Thereafter we enjoyed a beautiful morning’s golf, paradoxically in shirt sleeve weather, followed by a lunch in the Clubhouse Grill – superb!

Pipping husband David with a better last 6 hole score the winner was Lynda Blair with a score of 26 Stableford points.

Finally, a big thank you from all who travelled to Stan Rainey who, to celebrate his recent birthday, insisted on treating us all to our lunch, a very generous and much appreciated gesture. (And it’s great to know that Stan’s birthday will coincide with the next WOBOT trip in November 2020. It’s win, win!!)

Jim Hainey – WBGC Captain 2009 to 2011

Jim Hainey captained the cub from 2009 to 2011 and we are sorry to hear today of his passing on 24th October. He steered the club through difficult times following the financial crash of 2008 and it is in no small measure due to his hard work and commitment that the club pulled through and prospered. Additionally, Jim was engaging company both on and off the course and a good friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts at this sad time are with his family.

2019-2020 AGA Winter League

The winter league gets under way on Sunday 3rd November with our first game being against Shiskine GC at Brodick. It’s a tough draw for us this season with a match against Lamlash at Lamlash in January but then we host the final round in March when our opponents are Corrie GC. The fixture list is shown below and the team sheet is on the clubhouse notice board. If you wish to play please make sure you put your name up along with a telephone number at which you can be reached.
