Wednesday 7^th August – The McNicol Cup

16 played in the McNicol, one of our oldest and grandest trophies. Conditions were fine and some marvellous golf was played. With five 3s on the back nine, 4 of them on successive holes, captain in charge of vice Wolfi Kroner must have thought his fine net 6o would prevail only for Kevin McAleney to sneak in an even finer net 59 to win.

1st Kevin McAleney (10) – 59 and lowest gross

2nd Wolfi Kroner (15) – 60

3rd Ronnie Mann (12) – 63

4th Markus Kroner (8) – 64

CSS came down to 62. Markus Kroner and Kevin McAleney scored the only 2s of the day at the 9th and 13th respectively.

Friday 2^nd August – The Rosebowl

9 ladies played on another fine morning for this popular 18 hole Stableford. CSS was 66/34points

1st Elizabeth Rankin (30) – 36 points

2nd Lesley Wood (21) – 34

3rd Flora Jean Mack (26) – 29

Wednesday 31st July – The Betty Black Cup

28 played on yet another fine summer’s day. Following some rain on Tuesday the course was offering generous shotmaking conditions tempered by some not so generous flag positions. CSS Stayed at 63 and after an injury enforced layoff, for the second competition in a row Stan Rainey confirmed his return to winning ways this time with a  net 60.

Alan Foggo returned the lowest gross score with a 68 and 5 magic 2s were recorded; – Craig Simpson @ 2, Stan Rainey @ 3, Neil Richardson @ 4 Murray Foggo @ 6 and Colin Nisbet @ 17.

Sunday 28^th July – Nestor’s Jug

A total of 17 played in this year’s “Jug” but due to an unfortunate misunderstanding 5 played from the yellow tees while 12 played from the whites; hence 2 sets of results.

2s from David Rankin at the 6th and the 14th – doing it in style!

The destination of the trophy is yet to be finalised but whoever’s name is engraved, huge congratulations to David Hadden for his score. He’s been scoring well recently and he’s keen reduce his handicap but 50 points really is exceptional. Well played David.

Next year we’ll play the “Jug” as a Multi Coloured Texas Medalford!
