Sunday 20th August – The McKelvie Cup Rd 2

A modest turnout of 16 players enjoyed a fine morning for the second round of “The McKelvie” which also serves as the 3rd and final qualifying round for the club championship. Fresh from his victory in the disabled golfers championship at Duddingston, John Pennycott carded a net 64 to win by one stroke from Gavin Mainds.

Gavin returned the only 2s of the day at the 4th and the 14th. He also earns our hearty congratulations on winning and retaining The McKelvie cup with a 2 round aggregate of 131.

Sunday 13th August – The McKelvie Cup Rd1

A thoroughly unpleasant morning dawned for the 21 who played in the first of our club championship qualifiers. Heavy and prolonged showers continued throughout the day, making a later start no more appealing than an early one. Playing early in the morning Danny Head gained little advantage but still managed to return an impressive gross 68 to lead the field.

Nicol Auld and Gavin Mainds scored the only 2s of the day at the 17th.

Wednesday 9th August – The Betty Black Cup

28 played on a beautiful day for golf and with the greens freshly mowed the course was there for the taking. Well taken it was! Playing in the morning, Graham Wilks returned a stellar net 59 only to be overtaken by Mark West, who, playing in the evening, went one better to win on a net 58 that included a spectacular 2 at the 12th. Level par was good enough for only 5th place.
