This year’s Captain’s Prize will be a Stableford played from the yellow tees. Although we are not holding draws for partners at the moment, for the Captain’s Prize the tee has been reserved from 10am to 11am to facilitate a prize giving in or outside the clubhouse early in the afternoon. Any member needing to join a game should be able to do so if they are at the course by 10am.
Sunday 9th August – The Roy Ure Tankard
A beautiful summer day drew a good field of 25 for the Roy Ure Tankard, a popular Stableford usually played earlier in the year. Despite the fine condition of the course a north easterly breeze rendered shot making a little more difficult than usual and CSS went out to 64/35 Stableford points.
1st Kevin Jackson (8) – 38points
2nd Dave Hackett (15) – 37
3rd David Blair (13) – 36
4th Markus Kroner (7) – 35
Five 2s were recorded; Ryan Armstrong and Adam Kelso at the 4th, Kevin Jackson at the 11th, and David Blair and Jamie Macpherson at the 17th
Wednesday 5th August – The McNicol Cup
After the monsoon rains of Tuesday, 11 played in the McNicol Cup. Surprisingly the morning players made it round almost dry. Of those who played in the evening only 2 have been heard of again! (but one of them bagged second place so it can’t have been too bad)
1st Ronnie Mann (13) – 61
2nd Jamie Macpherson (5) – 63 acb, lowest gross and wettest shoes
3rd John Pennycott( 12) – 63
4th Markus Kroner (7) – 65
CSS stayed at 63 and Ronnie Mann bagged the only 2 of the day at the 17th
The club is pleased to announce an extension of clubhouse opening hours. See the “Welcome” page for details but essentially we have aded an extra hour on Mondays, open all the way through from 11 am to 9pm on Wednesdays and from 11 through to 6pm on Saturdays. Remember though, we need some custom to make this work so if you are thinking of a bite to eat and/or a drink or two in the village, why not pop up to the clubhouse instead. You’ll get a warm welcome and a fine choice of food and refreshment.
