Wednesday 5^th August – The McNicol Cup

After the monsoon rains of Tuesday, 11 played in the McNicol Cup. Surprisingly the morning players made it round almost dry. Of those who played in the evening only 2 have been heard of again! (but one of them bagged second place so it can’t have been too bad)

1st Ronnie Mann (13) – 61

2nd Jamie Macpherson (5) – 63 acb, lowest gross and  wettest shoes

3rd John Pennycott( 12) – 63

4th Markus Kroner (7) – 65

CSS stayed at 63 and Ronnie Mann bagged the only 2 of the day at the 17th

Sunday 2^nd August – The Lifeboat Stableford

25 played in The Lifeboat, the last of our summer charity support events. Unfortunately this was not an open competition this year for obvious reasons, but nevertheless some cash was raised for “The Lifeboat”.

1st Douglas Auld (20) – 41 points

2nd Kevin McAleney (9) – 38

3rd Scott Adair (5) – 37 acb

4th Graeme Crichton (12) – 37

CSS stayed at 63/36points and Scott Adair bagged the only 2 of the day at the 17th.

Wednesday 29^th July – The Betty Black Cup

26 played in this medal format trophy in memory of the legendary Betty Black, one time club (and later ‘social’) secretary. Once again scoring was impressive with the top 6 returning under par scores and doing their Summer Trophy aggregates no harm in the process. Especially impressive however was Kenneth Sillars’s wining score of 56 which gave him a 4 shot margin over his nearest rival.

4^th Gus Macleod (14) – 62

Jamie Macpherson returned the lowest gross score with 69 blows. CSS stayed at 63 and there were 4 magic 2s – Kevin Jackson at the 4^th and David Brookens, Ronnie Mann and John Pennycott at the 17^th.

Sunday 26th July – The Eric Wood Ladies Stableford

7 ladies played in their version of the Eric Wood Stableford and were able to take full advantage of the glorious afternoon weather.

1st Lynda Blair(23) – 38 points

2nd Jackie Nisbet (23) – 31

3rd Flora Jean Mack (27) – 30

CSS was 64/35 points and no 2s were scored

Sunday 26th July – The Eric Wood Stableford

Part 2 of our “Not Quite the Open “ weekend and we weren’t quite so lucky with the weather although the bright sunshine of the afternoon more than made up for the heavy that welcomed the morning players. Nevertheless a good field of 36 played and CSS stayed at 63/36 Stableford points.

2nd David Morrison (13) – 38

3rd Alan Foggo (5) – 37 acb

4th Scott Murray (10) – 37

Scott Murray bagged the only 2s of the day at holes 3 and 4.
