Sunday 14^th July – The Raymond Curtis Salver

26 played on another glorious morning and found the course matched the weather. With our “Open” fast approaching the greens are in great shape requiring a delicate touch with the putter while still rewarding well struck chips and pitches. Scoring was good with the majority of the field scoring in the net 60s but for all that CSS remained at 63. Neillie McKechnie bettered that by 3 shots to win by 2 from Graeme Crichton.

3rd Murray Foggo (7) – 63 acb

4th Jim Mack (21) – 63 acb

Neil Richardson returned the lowest gross score with a 69 and magic 2s were abundant – Michael Mannering at 4, Graeme Crichton at 7, Graeme Mack at 12, Murray Foggo at 13 and Kevin Jackson at 17.

Sunday 7^th July – The Whiting Bay Improvements Trophy

Another fine summer morning drew a good field of 24 for the latest of our charity support opens with many of our regular visitors returning as well as some newbies. Nice to see them all getting to enjoy the course in its present fabulous condition and hopefully the newbies will themselves become regulars.

Scoring was good but nonetheless CSS stayed at 63/36 points. Fraser Mackenzie beat that handsomely to win by 2 points from last years runner up, Stewart McGregor who this year matched last year’s winning total.

3rd Stuart Paterson (13) – 36 acb

4th David Blair (15) – 36

Magic 2’s came from Graeme Mack at the 4th and 17th and from Stuart McGregor, Stuart Paterson and John Pennycott all at the 17th.

Sunday 30th June – Stableford

After the exertions of the Hope Cup, a very much reduced field of only 5 played. CSS stayed at 63/36 Stableford points and Graeme Crichton beat that comfortably to win by 5 from his nearest challenger.

1st Graeme Crichton (13) – 38 points

2nd Douglas Auld (20) – 33 acb

3rd Ronnie Mann (13) – 33

Ronnie Mann bagged the only 2 of the day at the 5th hole.

Saturday 29^th June – AGA Hope Cup

Whiting Bay pulled off a creditable victory to beat the host club in the semi finals at Lochranza GC but unfortunately came up against a powerful Brodick team that prevailed comfortably in the final. Congratulations to them on their victory and thanks to Danny, Jamie, Nicol and Ryan for their efforts and for representing the club in such a sportsmanlike manner. Thanks also to the AGA for organising the event with its usual efficiency and to Lochranza GC for hosting. The course was in great condition and the layout proved itself more than equal to the task of hosting a ”major”.

Wednesday 26th June – The Cancer Relief Stableford Open

A good field of 23 played in the first of our summer charity support opens on another gorgeous summer’s day. Scoring was good with the top 6 players matching or beating par and CSS came down to 62/37 Stableford points. Kevin Jackson beat that comfortably to win with a fine round of 40 Stableford points

3rd Sandy Pringle (13) – 38

4th Stuart McGregor (13) – 37 acb

Magic 2s came from Danny Head at the 6th and Kevin Jackson at the 11th
