November Fixtures
Well suddenly its October and time to get used to playing preferred lies and informal sweeps. As usual we’ll be running the Tam Young Tankard on Wednesday mornings. The format’s the same as before but there have been some rules changes to handicapping and conceding putts. We’ll also have the popular Srixon Ball sweep on Friday mornings and while that is played using winter handicaps, mercifully it will be a non counter for winter handicapping purposes.
These sweeps have been great fun in the past so come on along and enjoy some winter golf.
Here is the draw for this season’s winter league matches. The player pool list is now on the clubhouse notice notice board. Please add your name and contact number if you wish to play or e mail/telephone the clubhouse if you can’t make it up personally.
Please note there will be NO CATERING provided by the association for this season’s matches. The availability of food and refreshments will depend on each participating club’s arrangements on the day.
Those of us who are members of Whiting Bay know how fortunate we are. We live on (or regularly visit) a beautiful island, we play a course that is invariably in good shape with some of the finest views imaginable and we meet some wonderful people. For some people however it’s not so easy. Here’s a letter from four of our US based visitors. They travel thousands of miles every time they play Whiting Bay. It’s clear from the letter just how much the club means to them and it’s heartwarming to read their supportive comments. It’s nice to know we are doing something right!
Jonathan, Neil, Brian and Tyler are now members of Whiting Bay GC and we look forward to seeing them the next time they can make it across the pond.
Thanks for writing guys and welcome to the club.
